Spencer Scott Smith & The Cherokee Roses play red-clay Americana with the windows down — outlaw-country grit, roots-rock muscle, and songs about the road, the women on it, and the home at the end of it. Named for the wild rose that grows along Georgia’s backroads, the band turns a barroom into a revival and a Tuesday into a Saturday night.
Frontman Spencer Scott Smith came up the long way — performing since he was nine, a degree in music and 25 years on stages around the world, with a Georgia Songbirds Showdown win to his name — before he gathered the Roses around him.
Before the band, there were the songs — Georgia-born country, blues & soul with a Mississippi twist. Spencer’s solo catalog is the work that started it all.
